Cookies and local storage

Cookie Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

This policy explains the small amount of browser storage used to operate Nodus Vault and the optional Google Analytics storage that is used only after permission.

1. Necessary and functional storage

  • bm_session: secure, HttpOnly authentication cookie, normally kept for up to 30 days.
  • NEXT_LOCALE: session preference that remembers the selected language; it is not used for tracking.
  • nodusvault:analytics-consent:v1: local-storage record of your analytics choice.
  • Theme and search-history preferences may be stored locally in your browser.
  • The extension stores its connection token, cached tags, recent choices, and a sanitized retry queue in Chrome extension storage.

2. Optional Google Analytics

When a valid GA4 configuration is present and you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_<container> to distinguish browsers and measure visits. Google commonly configures these cookies for up to two years, but browser settings or Google changes may shorten that period.

  • No Google Analytics script or request is loaded before acceptance.
  • Advertising signals and ad personalization are disabled in our configuration.
  • Nodus Vault does not use analytics for cross-context behavioral advertising.

3. Your choices

You can accept, reject, or later revoke analytics through Privacy preferences in the footer. Revocation disables future collection and attempts to remove readable _ga cookies. Global Privacy Control is treated as a rejection and prevents analytics while the signal is active. Blocking necessary storage may prevent login or preference features from working.

4. Changes and contact

We will update this policy if storage purposes or providers materially change. Questions: [email protected].
