Connect the Chrome extension
A Nodus Vault account is required. New accounts include a 7-day free trial with no credit card. Continued use after the trial requires a paid subscription; there is no permanent free plan.
- Install Nodus Vault from the Chrome Web Store and pin its icon if you want it visible in the toolbar.
- Open the extension and select Connect.
- Sign in to Nodus Vault, review the authorization screen, and select Connect again.
- Return to the page you want to save and reopen the extension.
Save pages and add context
The extension saves only the page you explicitly choose. It does not monitor every tab or collect your complete browsing history.
- Toolbar: open the Nodus Vault popup, choose optional existing tags, and select “Save this page.”
- Context menu: right-click a normal web page and choose “Save to Nodus Vault.”
- Keyboard: press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS. Chrome lets you change extension shortcuts.
- Chrome blocks extensions on some internal, protected, and browser-store pages. Open a normal HTTP or HTTPS page before saving.
What happens when the connection drops
If a requested save fails because of a temporary network or server problem, Nodus Vault can place a reduced version in a capped local retry queue and send it later. The popup shows the connection and queued-save status.
Full readable page text is removed before a save enters the local offline queue. Keep Chrome running and reconnect to the internet; the extension retries automatically. You can also use Retry in the popup when it is available.
Find and use saved links
Open Nodus Vault to search saved titles, descriptions, tags, sources, and available readable page content. Search can help you recover a link from its idea or meaning even when you do not remember the exact title.
- New saves arrive in Triage so you can decide what deserves attention.
- Daily Check brings back a finite queue of up to five links for a small daily decision.
- Bookmark detail keeps source information, tags, suggestions, private notes, and highlights together.
- Reader mode is available when readable article content was successfully extracted.
Troubleshooting
Start with the status shown in the popup. Its message distinguishes a disconnected account, revoked authorization, an offline queue, a duplicate bookmark, and an account or plan limit.
- Disconnected or revoked: select Connect and authorize the extension again.
- Page cannot be saved: try a normal public HTTP or HTTPS page; protected Chrome pages cannot be read.
- Tags are missing: use the refresh control in the popup after reconnecting.
- Duplicate: open Nodus Vault and search for the page URL or title before trying again.
- Queue does not clear: confirm that Chrome is online, reopen the popup, and use Retry if shown.
- Still stuck: email [email protected] with reproducible steps and a screenshot that contains no secrets.
Privacy and security
When you choose to save a page, the extension may send its URL, title, extracted metadata and, when available, readable page text to your Nodus Vault account. This supports bookmark creation, search, reader mode, and organization.
Nodus Vault does not use remotely hosted extension code. Disconnecting clears account-derived extension data stored locally. For full details or a privacy request, use the links in the site footer.
