HOW IT WORKS

A reversible check before you clean.

1. Export from your browser

Use the bookmark manager in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox, or Safari and export an HTML file.

2. Analyze locally

The browser reads the file on your device and builds the report without sending its contents to Nodus Vault.

3. Review before changing

Use the report as a guide. Keep a backup and make deliberate decisions inside your browser's bookmark manager.

CLEAR RULES

What the analyzer checks — and what it does not.

A useful diagnosis should be explainable. This tool only reports what the exported file can support.

Duplicate detection

Exact duplicates share the same URL. Possible duplicates also ignore fragments and known campaign parameters, while preserving meaningful query values.

Bookmark age

Dates come from ADD_DATE or DATE_ADDED fields. A missing date remains unknown instead of being guessed.

No live link checking yet

This version does not visit saved URLs, so it does not label pages as broken, safe, or available.

No invented reading status

A bookmarks HTML export does not reliably show whether you read a page. The report never calls an old bookmark unread.

READY TO MAKE A CLEAN COPY?

Turn the diagnosis into a reversible cleanup.

Bookmark Cleaner can open this same file locally, apply only the actions you choose, and export a new library in five formats.

Questions about the bookmark analyzer

Is my bookmark file uploaded?

No. Parsing and analysis happen in your browser. Only anonymous tool events may be measured if you have already allowed analytics; filenames, titles, URLs, and folder names are never included.

Which browser exports work?

The analyzer targets Netscape-style bookmarks HTML exported by Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox, and Safari.

Does this delete or modify bookmarks?

No. The tool is read-only. It creates a report and never changes the file or your browser.

What counts as a possible duplicate?

URLs are compared after removing the fragment, sorting query parameters, and removing known campaign identifiers such as utm_source and fbclid. Other query values are kept.

Does it find broken links?

Not in this version. Reliable live checking requires network requests and careful handling of redirects, login walls, rate limits, and sites that block automated checks.

CLEANUP IS ONLY THE FIRST STEP

Keep the links worth returning to.

Nodus Vault helps you find saved links by what you remember and brings back a finite Daily Check instead of another endless pile.
